The Bush Tennis Center will host a unique event to help raise funds as well as awareness of what the Bush Tennis Center is all about.

On November 18, hundreds of tennis balls will be dropped above a target from the top of a Midland Fire Department fire truck at the inaugural Tennis Ball Drop. One lucky person will win $5,000, and more than 20 other participants will win one of more than 20 other prizes.

“We wanted to do something different that the typical dinner, auction and dance,” said Executive Director Valerie Acosta. “The event will include drinks and food but will offer participants a chance to see our programs in action.”

Tennis balls will drop at 6:30 p.m. and the event will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. which is during the height of their program schedule.

“We have programs throughout the week,” said Director of Tennis Luis Valdez. “The programs featured during the time of the ball drop will include 3-year-old balloon tennis participants to adults. Participants will be able to see how our programs progress with the tennis player.”

Anyone is invited to participate. Tickets for the ball drop are $25 for one chance or $100 for five chances. Participants do not need to present to win. For more information on the Tennis Ball Drop, contact Jill Malcolm at j.malcolm@bushtenniscenter.com or 432.620.8180.
