ESPN is reporting that Ron Washington has resigned as manager of the Texas Rangers.

According to a statement released by the Texas Rangers, Washington resigned due to personal reasons:

"Ron Washington informed us today that he has chosen to resign as Rangers manager in order to turn his full attention to addressing an off-the-field personal matter," general manager Jon Daniels said in a statement. "Out of respect for Ron's privacy, the Rangers will leave any comment on the details to him."

Washington guided the Texas Rangers to their first two World Series trips in 2010 and 2011. He leaves the club as the all-time leader in regular season wins, with a 664-611 record in his eight seasons.

Bench coach, Tim Bogar, will be interim manager for the remainder of the season.
