Bill Hader, James McAvoy Being Courted for Stephen King’s ‘It’ Sequel
Is it Bill Hader and James McAvoy's time to float?
Word on the cinema circuit is that the actors could be joining the Losers Club in the sequel to last year's nightmare-inducing horror flick, It.
Hader and McAvoy are rumored to be consulting parts as the adult versions of Richie Tozier and Bill Denbrough, originally brought to life in the 2017 film rework of Stephen King's 1986 novel by Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard and The Book of Henry actor Jaeden Lieberher.
On Thursday (April 12), a source confirmed to Entertainment Weekly exclusively that the X-Men: Apocalypse actor is negotiating his role as the stuttering Bill (originated by Lieberher), while the Saturday Night Live alum is in conversations to play the talkative Richie (originated by Wolfhard) for the second installment.
Though unconfirmed, it's been rumored since February that Jessica Chastain might also be tapped to fill Sophia Lillis' shoes as the grown-up Beverly Marsh.
In the forthcoming second chapter, which follows the novelization's 27-year legend of Pennywise's precarious return to Derry, Maine, the members of the Losers Club are called back to their hometown to brave the ordeals of their youth and confront the evil shape-shifting entity (portrayed by Hemlock Grove's Bill Skarsgård) they conquered as children.
According to EW, the young actors from the 2017 original are said to make reappearances in the It follow-up, with Andy Muschietti taking a seat in the director's chair once again.
Skarsgård will also reprise his role as the menacing Pennywise in the film.
It 2 releases September 6, 2019.
