Are There Any Other 80’s Movies That Have Date Set?

Everyone remembers 'Back to the Future Day' a few weeks ago, but are there any more movies that 'date-set' that we can look forward to in our future? Yep!

There are two movies that I know of that set dates, with in dialog or with plot that we can look forward too--or maybe not--in the next year or so.

One is 'Ghostbusters II' (1989) : Near the beginning of the movie, during Peter Venkman's TV show, 'The World of the Psychic', one of the so-called psychics said that an alien she met at the Holiday Inn told her that the world would end on Valentines Day 2016. Ominous, but she wasn't sure if it was the Holiday Inn or a space ship made to look like the hotel...so there's that.

Then there's everyone's favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger / Richard Dawson movie from 1987, 'The Running Man'. The plot summary goes like this: In the year 2017, the world economy has collapsed. The great freedoms of the United States are no longer, as the once great nation has sealed off its borders and become a militarized police state, censoring all film, art, literature, and communications. Even so, a small resistance force led by two revolutionaries manages to fight the oppression. With full control over the media, the government attempts to quell the nation's yearning for freedom by broadcasting a number of game shows on which convicted criminals fight for their lives. The most popular and sadistic of these programs is 'The Running Man,' hosted by Damon Killian. There is also a cameo by Fleetwood Mac drummer, Mick Fleetwood.

Hmmm.
