Unruly Texas Passenger Gets Largest Fine FAA Has Ever Given
A Texas woman received the largest fine ever given by the FAA for being an unruly passenger.
According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, the Federal Aviation Administration proposed the highest fine for an unruly passenger on a flight from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Charlotte, NC fining her $81,950.
"The FAA alleges the passenger threatened to hurt the flight attendant that offered help to the passenger after she fell into the aisle," states the FAA release. "The passenger then pushed the flight attendant aside and tried to open the cabin door. Two flight attendants tried to restrain the passenger, but she repeatedly hit one of the flight attendants on the head."
That is just part of the over $2 million in fines the FAA has proposed in 2022 because of unruly passengers assaulting flight crews and other passengers over mask mandates.
While she was restrained in flex cuffs, the release stated she "spit at, headbutted, bit and tried to kick the crew and other passengers," adding that "law enforcement apprehended her in Charlotte."
The Federal Aviation Administration has a Zero Tolerance policy regarding unruly passengers and it has also put forth a public awareness campaign that has decreased incidents by almost 60%.
This incident just shows there is still more work that needs to be done, realize that mask mandates were not created by the flight crew of the plane, they probably do not like wearing masks either, so just sit down shut up and quit claiming your rights are being violated. There is no right anywhere that says you don't have to adhere to safety regulations.
