The Texas Tech Athletic department is absolutely on a roll this spring, and it culminated in an incredibly special day.

Let's start with softball.

The Red Raiders came into the day 11-0, but off a "loss" in an exhibition to Team Japan in the wee hours of the morning. Saturday afternoon, they beat Oregon 5-0 to move to 12-0 for the season. Erin Edmoundson continued her dominant season, pitching the complete game and a three-hit shoutout.

Next up, Texas Tech baseball, which clinched the series against Kentucky. It wasn't easy, but the Red Raiders got it done, beating the Wildcats 10-7. Dylan Neuse had two home run, including a grand slam to lead the good guys to victory.

Now, with just those two victories, Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt would be feeling pretty good, but the school was just getting started. The women of Texas Tech's Track and Field program won second place at the indoor Big 12 championships, racking up the second-most points in team history. The ladies scored up 108.5 points and several individual championships.

The men also set records. They also scored 70 more points than the second place team to win their second Big 12 Championship in a row. The 70-point spread was the largest in Big 12 history.

Divine Oduduru was the star of the show today, winning both the 60m and the 200m. The 200m time he ran was a facility, Big 12, National, and World Record. Nobody has ever run that race faster than Divine Oduduru.

The final act of the evening was the absolute shellacking of Kansas by the Texas Tech basketball team. The Red Raiders scored first and led the entire way, eventually beating the Jayhawks worse than anyone else has beaten them in the last 18 years.

Jarrett Culver led the way with 26 points. Norense Odiase had 8 points and 13 boards.

Texas Tech dominates Kansas (Feb. 23rd, 2019)

The 29-point victory was an exclamation point on an incredible day for Texas Tech University.

I think Kirby Hocutt might need a raise.
