Residents are on edge after remains were found in an east Midland neighborhood.

A couple of weeks ago a skull was found by a mailbox near the 1700 block of East Texas Ave. in Midland, this past Saturday, more remains were found about a block away on Illinois and Tilden which has caused residents in the area naturally to be on edge.

"Only thing I can think of is while we're sleeping they're throwing bodies everywhere, it's scary you never know what else is in this field and it's just scary," said Crystal Goodman, a resident in the neighborhood.

The remains were really close to the neighborhood school and community center and residents in the area have even opted to leave their homes for the time being.

"Me and my four children don't want to stay here," said Goodman.

Goodman is staying at her workplace for now mainly because she saw the removal of the remains on Saturday and it has shaken her.

"It was in a white bag," said Goodman, " My son was like 'Mama you can see that in my window.'"

She wants more security in the area where she lives so she can feel safe staying in her own home.

"I don't think it's enough," Goodman said. "We need cameras, we need something around here because I don't think it's enough. It's just scary because somebody knows something and I just feel that somebody needs to speak up."

The investigation and the identity of the remains are still ongoing and Midland police will update the public when they get more information.
