Edward Herrmann passed away on December 31, 2014 in New York City and as I was reading through his bio I remembered the first time that I saw him on the big screen; in the 1987 movie 'The Lost Boys'.

You may remember Edward Herrmann best for his role as Richard Gilmore on 'Gilmore Girls'. You could also remember him for his incredible voice work. Flip on any History Channel documentary and more than likely, you're going to hear Edward Herman's voice.

But back about 30 years ago, he starred in the summer blockbuster called 'The Lost Boys'. In the 80's, some of these actors were just getting there start: Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, the late Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Diane Weist, and bigger stars like Jamie Gertz, and of course Edward Herrmann.

I'm more than a little surprised that this movie hasn't gained more traction lately because it involves vampires; which have been in vogue over the last few years. But not just vampires: Jim Morrison worshiping cult vampires!

I won't give too much away, but it is a great way to introduce someone who didn't grow up and them, a good taste for the 80s. Be warned, it is rated (R) for violence and language.

What was your favorite movie of the 80s?
