According to YourBasin.com, its called the Guardian Program and it would allow specific teachers on each campus to be armed.

School district officials said the discussions started a couple of months back at the school board meeting after the shooting in Parkland, FL.

District officials have met with parents over the past two weeks to give them information and details of the program.

Big Spring ISD Superintendent Jay McWilliams said,  "You'll have to go through several psychological exams, drug testing. You would have to work closely with our police and sheriff's department."

Big Spring will not be the first school district to begin such a program in Howard County.

Coahoma and Forsan have had a program like this for years and BSISD will go through the process to insure the program is done right.

The Big Spring Board of Trustees will meet today (May 10, 2018) and will decide whether the program will be approved or rejected.
