Every Wednesday we feature a different pet that needs a new forever home here in the Basin from Lonestar Sanctuary For Animals. Sometimes it's a dog, sometimes it's a cat. They haven't had any guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, or snakes---yet. But you never know!

Meet Pippin!

He is a Corgi/Cattle dog mix. This ten-year-old man is one of the sweetest and most chill dogs in the Shelter!  Even though he is an older dog, Pippen has no medical issues.  He isn't a fan of other dogs but loves people once you give him a short time to warm up.  Every morning he cuddles with staff as they take him to his yard for exercise.   He can walk there on his own but the staff loves to give him extra attention and affection.  Once in his yard, Pippen loves to run!  Everyone loves a cute little cuddly puppy, but there are many advantages to adopting an older dog who is long past that mischievous puppy stage. Pippen would love to be your TV watching buddy, someone to take on small walks through the neighborhood, and be your faithful companion.  He would be a good match for a single person or a family with older teenagers. If you are looking to add a dog to your family, please consider the older dogs in the shelter they all still have so much love to give!  Visitation hours are 1-4:30 pm every day except Thursdays. Closed Thursdays.

And if for some reason you're not looking for a pet right now--please click SHARE and post this to your social media so we can help Pippen find his forever home. Or perhaps you're looking for a different new furry friend. There are so many fur babies who would love to meet you so stop by and pay them a visit! There are plenty of dogs and cats to choose from who would love to be your next family member.

The Lone Star Sanctuary For Animals can always use supplies as well so if you can, stop by and drop off a donation to help the staff care for the shelter animals till they can find their forever homes. Needed right now:

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
