Odessa Police Dept. Receives 100 Teddy Bears for Patrol Program

OPD just received a donation of over 100 teddy bears to go with the Teddy Bear Patrol Program.

According to NewsWest 9, the donation came from HSB Insurance Services for the OPD Teddy Bear Patrol Program that was started in 1990 to help comfort children during traumatic events.

The officers carry at least 3 teddy bears with them on patrol just in case they are needed.

Officers say the program has helped comfort children in times of fires or violent events that have occurred in their homes.
