Most West Texas Churches Are Not Opening This Sunday
Gov. Abbott has given the OK for businesses and churches to open after May 1, but some churches are keeping their doors closed for now.
According to NewsWest 9, places of worship can open this Sunday at 25% capacity by order of the governor, but most churches are going to wait a little bit longer to do more preparation to make sure their congregation is safe.
Pastors will be stocking up on PPE to hand out at the door, marking pews or seats to accommodate proper social distancing measures, removing hymnals and offering plates from the sanctuaries, and removing greeting stations.
Most will continue their online services this weekend to get their churches prepared for worshipers to return while some will choose to continue online services for at least the next several weeks.
