Monahans Sandhills State Park to Celebrate a Big Birthday

Monahans Sandhills State Park will be celebrating a big birthday this year.

According to NewsWest 9, the park will be celebrating 60 years this year.

The park became a state park back in November of 1957 and has been a place to ride the dunes since then.

I can remember a time when the park would rent out dune buggies and let you ride up and down the dunes, but because of safety concerns now you can enjoy the dunes on plastic discs.

The park had a birthday event this past Saturday but officials say there is no plans for any other birthday celebrations the rest of this year.
