Midland Health Will Open Mass Vaccination Clinic to Get Your Third Shot

Midland Health will open a mass vaccination site to help everyone to get their third booster shot with the spike in COVID-19 cases.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, Midland Health announced Thursday, August 19, 2021 that they will opening a mass vaccination site to provide the third booster shot for the COVID-19 vaccine.

For now the boosters of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be the only ones available until the CDC and other medical advisors decide whether the people who got the one dose Johnson & Johnson shot will need a second shot as well.

Russell Meyers said the F. Marie Hall Outpatient Center on Andrews Hwy. (formerly known as the West Campus of Midland Memorial Hospital) will be the site of the mass booster vaccination site beginning September 14, 2021, and will happen three times a week.

The boosters, like the original vaccines, will be free of charge but health officials will be asking for insurance or Medicare information.

They will also be providing first shots for those who have not gotten the vaccine yet since Midland County is currently sitting at 40 percent of citizens being vaccinated.

“Nobody pays for the vaccine,” said Meyers. “That's been funded by the federal government, is available to the hospital for free, and we pass it on to our patients.”

Meyers said they will be looking for volunteers for the mass vaccination site especially those interested in helping with clerical duties or logistics.
