City Council meeting on October 22 provided an update for Centennial Park now that the new Bush Convention Center is finished.

According to NewsWest 9, the city council said residents should start seeing development as soon as November or December 2019.

Funding will be mostly provided by a combined partnership of the City of Midland, the Scharbauer Foundation, Concho Resources and the Downtown Midland Management District with $2 million coming from the city and the other $15 million to be provided by the other private industries listed above.

"We're trying our best to give kids a place to cool off when it's 110 degrees outside and just a place where you can come through, I mean the convention center along with the park is really our city center," said J. Ross Lacy from the Midland City Council.

Centennial Park is scheduled to be completed in time for re-opening on April 28, 2020.
