Frank Ocean Performs ‘Forrest Gump’ With Moving Graphics at 2013 Grammys
Sore finger or not, courtesy of his parking lot brouhaha with Chris Brown, the inimitable Frank Ocean turned in a slow, deliberate and beautiful rendition of 'Forrest Gump' at the 2013 Grammys. He didn't play like he was dealing with a damaged finger! In fact, he was fully functioning, at least in our minds, eyes and ears.
With moving graphics, which made it look like Ocean was running a la the "Run, Forest, Run!" scene in the movie, it was a memorable performance. What a way for Ocean to make his debut on the stage at music's biggest night.
Dressed in a yellow suit with a sweatband around his head, Ocean delivered an unassuming, yet haunting performance before fading off the stage. He really knows how to make a point without smashing you over the head, which is not easy to do. It's much easier to capture one's attention by kicking and screaming -- ahem, like his nemesis Breezy does so well.
Ocean relies on a measured, soft yet emotive delivery and garners the same amount of attention.
That's what we love.
