The Fantastic Four haven’t had a ton of luck in the cinematic arena, mostly due to their movies being somewhere in the range of bland-to-terrible, but because humanity is, by and large, a stubborn bunch of carbon-based organisms, we’re gonna keep making these movies until something sticks and we land on a good one. The infinite monkey theorem does state, after all that an infinite number of monkeys working an infinite number of typewriters will eventually come up with a passable Fantastic Four movie.

They’ve tried the kinda fun route, and they’ve tried the dark and gritty route, but Fox has yet to hit on a formula that works for the quartet of heroes. But rumor has it, according to Bleeding Cool, that a new kid-friendly batch of Fantastic Four is being whipped up as we speak:

While the most recent movie reinvented the Fantastic Four as youngsters, along the lines of the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic book, the movie swings to the other end of the spectrum. Instead, it will concentrate on Franklin and Valeria, the children of Reed Richards and Susan Storm. While still having the Thing and the Human Torch along for the ride.

The article compares the developing film to Pixar’s The Incredibles, which isn’t too far off the mark, as that was a kid-friendly film about superheroes that were inspired by the powers of the Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, and the rest. This would mean that the current draft (written by Seth Graeme-Smith) of the proposed sequel to Josh Trank’s miserable failure would be reworked to add the kids in, and the franchise wouldn’t necessarily have to be rebooted completely with an all-new cast.

It could happen, but again, this is just a rumor for now. My advice would be to let the public forget about how bad the last one was before they try for another, even if it is more fun.
