ECISD Will Require Clear or Mesh Backpacks For Secondary Students This Fall

ECISD will require all middle and high school students to have mesh or clear backpacks when school resumes in the Fall of 2020.

According to NewsWest 9, the school district is doing this as a safety measure and will also require purses, clutches, and similar bags to be 5x8x1 or smaller.

Duffle bags used by athletes or fine arts students will be required to be left in the locker room or rehearsal halls beginning in the fall as well.

ECISD will be notifying retailers about the new requirements so they can increase stock on them.

This change is brought about by multiple threats to school districts and arrests of students bringing firearms to school.
