Near the entire cast of Community has found steady gigs since the ages-ago “cancellation” off Yahoo Screen, but as the old mantra demands, we still need “a movie” to follow “six seasons and.” Creator Dan Harmon tells Larry King he’s confident it’ll happen one day, but hasn’t started a script, for fear of two distinctly saddening scenarios.

Currently busy with the third season of Rick and Morty, Harmon dropped by Larry King (via UPROXX) for an update on the cult favorite’s movie potential, itself secondary to the busy schedules of Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ken Jeong and more. Neither scenario to get the Community movie rolling are good, between Harmon’s own potential disappointment, or the cast’s sudden rash of unemployment:

If I pull out a typewriter right now and write a Community movie just for my own heart and mind, then I have to go through the heartbreak and agony of finding out which of the people will show up to make it. On the other hand, if I wait for everyone to line up and say, we’re all out of work and ready to do a Community movie, well, I guess that’s a bad idea, too.

Harmon cheerfully added “It’ll make a great movie … it’ll happen,” but lest we forget, that cast is staying busy. McHale has his new CBS sitcom (joining Brown’s Odd Couple), as does Pudi find himself Powerless on NBC, while Donald Glover gears up to launch FX’s Atlanta. Brie and Rash have both made more recent feature appearances (not to mention the latter’s writing), while Gillian Jacobs shoots Season 2 of Netflix’s Love, among others.

Community fans never say die, but who could a potential movie do without, if need be?
