Bacterial Disease in Dogs is Popping Up in Other Texas Communities, Vets Warn it Could Hit the Basin Soon
The bacterial disease Leptospirosis has shown up in Houston and Plano recently and veterinarians warn it could hit the Permian Basin soon too.
According to NewsWest 9, vets say you need to learn about Leptospirosis so you know the signs of your dog coming down with it.
Symptoms include fever, shivering, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, lethargy and jaundice. If your dog is showing these signs you are instructed to get to your vet as soon as possible.
There is a vaccination for the disease which is why vets are urging people to keep a watch on their dogs and get them treated if anything looks abnormal to kepp from having an outbreak here in the Basin.
