A single giraffe in Zootopia contained over nine million individual hairs. Million! That’s more hair than all of the last three Disney animated films together. That’s just one of the hair-raising (sorry) Zootopia facts in the latest installment of You Think You Know Movies!

Disney animators spent a total of 18 months studying various animals movements and behavior, in order to give Zootopia’s characters realistic life. At 108 minutes, Zootopia is also the second longest movie in Disney’s animated library, after the 126-minute classical music collection Fantasia. Interestingly, the film was personalized for its release in different countries. In England, it was called Zootropolis, in Germany it was Zoomania, and in China it was Crazy Animal City. In addition, the newscaster character was played by different animals around the world. American audiences saw a moose; Australian crowds got a locally-appropriate koala. No two international audiences saw quite the same movie, which is really cool.

‘You Think You Know Movies?’ is a ScreenCrush original series that dives deep into the cinematic worlds of your favorite movies and freeze frames a few tidbits you might not have known. We’ve already tackled Star Wars, The Avengers and Spider-Man, but now it’s time to head to Crazy Animal City for this batch of Zootopia facts. Watch more installments of ‘You Think You Know Movies?’ below and let us know in the comments what movies we should cover next.
