You Can Now Pick Strawberries in Midland

Picking strawberries is one thing I thought I would never be able to do as a life-long resident of Midland County, but that is not the case anymore.

According to NewsWest 9, Plants and Produce in Greenwood gives you the option every year now to pick strawberries for just three dollars a pound.

Jamie Morgan is a partner in the ownership of Plants and Produce and said "We started last year and it went really well. A lot of people really love it. We tried planting strawberries outside like 3 years ago, it didn't go well. So last year we tried to plant them inside the green house with heaters and fans so they are doing good."

Jamie and her husband came to West Texas because of the oil industry 12 years ago where their passion for gardening was the motivation behind the creation of Plants and Produce.

Strawberries are not the only thing provided by the store, you can also get fresh vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, onions, potatoes, and they are planning on planting corn soon as well.

Plants and Produce is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. but if you want to hand pick your strawberries you will have to make a reservation at 432-559-5978.
