The UIL and the state has allowed high school teams to have organized workouts again.

According to CBS 7, Monday was when school athletic teams were allowed to have workouts again and at all high schools.

At Midland Lee and Odessa Permian, groups were spaced out and sanitation was a requirement for all the athletes.

Players said it was weird to have coaches constantly harping on cleanliness.

“It’s a little weird seeing them with hand sanitizer in their hands,” Lee quarterback Mikey Serrano said. “They’ll be like ‘Hey clean this when you’re done!’ when it’s not usually immediate, we get our work first then clean. So it’s a little funny, but it is what it is.”

Even through the new normal of cleanliness, Monday was a huge step toward the return of high school sports.
