What I Am Thankful For – November 23rd

I have been sharing what I am thankful for in my life over the past few weeks. Today I am thankful for...

...the Church.

If you are a person of faith, you understand that you are blessed with a group of people who gather together once or maybe several times a week, to worship, learn and share.

I am so thankful that God has led me to a great church that is my 'church home'. It's a place full of people just as messed up as me, searching for answers and trying to do life with all the joys, heartbreak and stress that goes along with it. The people that I meet with, have many of the same problems that I do, have suffered loss and also feel led to a higher calling.

I never take for granted that I can do this without someone making me do it, telling me where I must do it, how I must do it and what god I must pray to. We all know that there are lands that make people obey or face the edge of a sword. Not so here.

I guess I can also be thankful that if there is a day I don't want to go to church, I can choose to do that without fear of retribution.

Knowing that my rights come from God, not man or his government make me want to worship my God who blesses me with these freedoms! The more I share these blessings with you, the more truly grateful I am.
