Woody Harrelson Wants You To Stop Being So Emotional in Final ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ Trailer
A cute kid, apes loading machine guns, apes throwing grenades, Woody Harrelson shouting at apes – there’s a lot going on in the latest trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes. The third (and supposedly final, but we’ll wait for the box office numbers to determine that one) installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot is an all out war between mankind and ape-kind, and it looks pretty wild.
Most of the trailer is previously seen footage, except for a few choice moments with Harrelson’s ruthless Colonel, who yells at at the apes for taking the war personally and being extra emotional – I mean, you're the one who's acting super emotional, dude. Beyond teasing some of the action, the trailer shows off a series of fantastic shots, like a gang of apes crawling across a rope and overhead shots of bodies encased by fallen snow.
The Matt Reeves film follows Andy Serkis’ Caesar leading a team of apes played by Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Karin Konoval, and Terry Notary, as well as a young girl played by Amiah Miller, in one final battle. Here’s the official synopsis:
In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
20th Century Fox also released a new poster with the final trailer where Caesar and his apes face off a troop of human soldiers. There’s tons of detail, from the masses of apes posing with weapons in the background to the messages inscribed across the soldier’s helmets.
War for the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 14.
