UTPB's College of Engineering developed the plexiglass booth to help out with COVID-19 testing.

According to NewsWest 9, the College of Engineering donated the stainless steel and plexiglass booth to Odessa Regional Medical Center so doctors and nurses could do testing for COVID-19 and not have to use up all their PPE.

“It’s a rectangular, air tight, enclosure. There will be a medical worker inside with medical gloves. An individual can then walk up and get tested for COVID-19. This unit will help us in preserving personal protection equipment,” said UT Permian Basin Dean of Engineering Dr. George Nnanna.

The UTPB College of Engineering is hoping to be able to provide all area hospitals with similar equipment.
