Unveiling The Timeless Magic Of Disney’s ‘Pinocchio': A Story Of Redemption And Morality
Disney's second animated feature film Pinocchio was release today back in 1940 to theaters after its initial premiere at the Center Theatre in New York City on February 7th, 1940 that makes Pinocchio 84 years old!!
Pinocchio was based on Carlo Collodi's 1883 Italian children's novel titled "The Adventures of Pinocchio". The 1940 Disney classic was released by RKO Radio Pictures and was the studio's second animated feature film. The film follows the story of Geppetto, an old woodcarver, who carves a wooden puppet and names him Pinocchio. Geppetto has always longed for a son and with the help of the Blue Fairy Pinocchio is brought to life .. well almost to life.
The story continues after Pinocchio comes to life he is still made of wood. Wishing to become a real boy, Pinocchio must prove himself to be "brave, truthful, and unselfish." Pinocchio meets several characters one of which is a cricket named Jiminy, who becomes Pinocchio's conscience and attempts to guide him in life and what is right and what is wrong. They experience many adventures from getting involved with a puppet show to being swallowed by a whale! He selflessly rescues Geppetto and is seemingly killed much to the dismay of Geppetto. But the Blue Fairy appears and with a flick of her wand Pinocchio becomes a real boy.
Pinocchio has been remade by director Guillermo Del Toro's in recent years but nothing can replace the Disney original Pinocchio! Happy 84th Anniversary
