Unvaccinated Texas Doctor Warns People to Get Vaccinated After Catching Delta Variant
A West Texas doctor who says he has never been seriously ill, is now sounding the alarm after getting the delta variant.
According to CBS 7, Dr. Jason Loos, a pathologist at Covenant Health in Lubbock, recently got the delta variant.
“I’ve never had fever more than a day and a half in my life. I’ve called in sick maybe once in 20 years,” he said.
His fever went on for eight days and then he woke up unable to breathe and called an ambulance.
That was back in May and he is still feeling the effects of the virus to this day.
Dr. Loos is also still unable to enjoy activities he used to enjoy and still has no taste or smell.
“It took me about three weeks to get back to where I could walk up one flight of stairs,” said Loos. “Even today, if you race me in a 100-yard dash, you’d have to pick me up and take me back to the ER.”
Dr. Loos says he chose to not get the vaccine because he felt he could manage the virus and he wanted to save the vaccine for his fellow healthcare workers or a more vulnerable patient.
“I’ll always say it’s a personal choice, but the right choice is to get vaccinated,” Loos advised.
Other doctors are urging everyone to get vaccinated also after the spike in cases due to the delta variant.
“This really is a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” said Dr. Brian Schroeder, chief medical officer of Covenant Health Medical Center. “We’re not seeing anyone who has been vaccinated requiring critical care.”
