Tom Hanks is like one of those sharks that have to swim in order to keep breathing: the man just can’t seem to take a vacation. Not that we’re complaining about getting at least one Hanks-led movie a year. His next project will be exciting for Hanks and Game of Thrones fans alike: he’s signed on to star in a sci-fi movie directed by Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik.

According to Variety, Bios, the hot spec script that’s quickly closing on a deal with one of the major studios, is about “a robot that lives on a post-apocalyptic earth. Built to protect the life of his dying creator’s beloved dog, it learns about love, friendship, and the meaning of human life.” Hanks, unsurprisingly, will play the robot’s creator. This sounds like the kind of movie that’ll hit every robot-learning-to-be-human soft spot that folks who love this genre have. Amblin is making moves to likely snap this film up, but Legendary and Warner Bros. are still putting up a fight.

Sapochnik has made a name for himself with some of the biggest Game of Thrones episodes of the show, like “Hardhome,” and “Battle of the Bastards.” With the success of TV helmers like him and Neil Marshall, who is working on the Hellboy reboot, it seems like Game of Thrones functions as a kind of proving ground for Hollywood studios, where promising directors can show off their talents.

Hanks can next be seen in Steven Spielberg’s The Post, which comes out this December, where he plays former Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee during the Pentagon Papers incident.
