Chris Lane, an Australian man who had recently accepted a scholarship to play baseball for East Central University in Oklahoma, was shot and killed by three Oklahoma teens Friday afternoon. According to the police, the teens did it simply because they were bored.

ABC reports that Lane, 22 years old, was the first victim the teens "dropped" on Friday. They also killed another random victim, who has yet to be identified.

Lane's father told reporters that his son was "on the cusp of making his life." According to Lane's baseball coach, he was a well-liked man.

The three teens, ages 15,16 and 17, were picked up by police and were at first uncooperative. After some questioning, the teens began to talk and one of them said the 16-year-old was the one who actually pulled the trigger. When asked why they did it, they told police, "We were bored and didn't have anything to do, so we decided to kill somebody."

The three have yet to be arraigned.
