Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, evictions and debt collections were put on pause, but starting next week they will resume.

According to NewsWest 9, collection of debt and the issuance of evictions will resume beginning Monday, May 18, 2020.

If you are a landlord and want to go through the process of evicting a tenant, eviction hearings will resume on May 26, 2020.

This does not involve tenants who are protected under the Federal Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act or renters in homes with a federally backed mortgage.

Those tenants will be covered under the moratorium till August 23, 2020.

Those owing a debt, be warned that debt collectors will be able to garnish accounts starting later this month.
