With the recent shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, pastors and congregations in Texas and the nation are brushing up on gun techniques to make sure churches are kept safe.

According to NewsWest 9, there is a program to help with church security, its called the Gatekeeper Program from the Christian Security Institute and it is in operation to help keep churches safe.

Business was slow at the beginning of the Gatekeeper Program when it was created over a decade ago.

The Gatekeeper Program was created by Chuck Chadwick and his son Will and has just recently began seeing their phone ring non-stop since the shooting in Sutherland Springs.

The Gatekeeper Program offers a six-day course where volunteers are taught defense tactics used by professional security companies and law enforcement.

The program tailors to the challenges a church could face, like how to deal with an unruly member or parishioner, as well as how to use a gun against an active shooter.
