Where Does Texas Rank Among the Best States for Living Off the Grid?
I must admit that living off the grid sounds awesome to me – to an extent.
For me, living off the grid means getting out in nature, away from technology. I love the thought of unplugging for a few days and living life free of the noise of the internet. But I’m not interested in drinking rainwater or living off the land with no electricity. I’m way too damn spoiled for any of that business.
However, there are others out there who are way more hardcore than I am. They would look at my view of living off the grid as nothing more than a routine camping trip. Fair enough.
And if you happen to be one of those people who prefers to kick it like it’s the 1700s, you’re probably interested in knowing where the best places are for that kind of living.
Lucky for you, LawnStarter conducted a study to determine which states are best for living off the grid in 2023.
Researchers looked at factors such as the suitability of electric, water, and waste laws for living off the grid, the average per-acre value of cropland, and the yearly average of very cold days, among other things.
When all was said and done, Texas was determined to be the 2nd best state for living off the grid, right behind Iowa.
So, if you’ve got the guts to rough it, this is the state for you. And if you do decide to live off the grid, let me know how that went for you when you finally reconnect with society.
