Tap Water in Both Midland and Odessa Has Cancer Causing Contaminants
If you haven't figured out that the tap water in Midland/Odessa is not good, this will prove it, but it is not so bad that it is bad for you.
According to NewsWest 9, the water may be bad tasting, but the cancer causing contaminants are all well below federal legal limits.
Between 2010 and 2015 both water supplies were found to have 11 cancer causing contaminants that were not of any concern because they did not exceed federal legal limits.
Those contaminants were believed to have gotten into the water supply by way of naturally occurring contamination into water wells by surrounding soil and leftover by-products of the water treatment process.
The non-profit group Environmental Working Group (EWG) were the ones responsible for the water testing.
Officials with the lab testing the water in Midland say there is nothing shocking with the findings and that the people in the area are not at risk.
If you would like to see the complete list of contaminants from the results of both water supplies, you can find the list on the EWG website.
