Sunset Advisory Suggests Name Change for Railroad Commission

A new name may be coming soon for the Texas Railroad Commission according to reports.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, the Sunset Advisory Commission recommended on Friday to change the name of the agency since the commission does not deal in any way with trains or railroads.

The Sunset Advisory Commission also said the outdated name misleads the public and impedes its efforts to be more transparent.

They have suggested the name be changed to "Texas Energy Resources Commission."
