The days of being able to buy tobacco products before you can buy alcohol may soon be coming to an end.

According to NewsWest 9, State Lawmakers are considering a bill to up the age to buy tobacco from 18 to 21 after a city ordinance was recently passed in San Antonio that upped the age inside their city limits.

Wednesday the Public Health Committee will hear House Bill 749, which proposes the increase of the minimum age to buy all tobacco products including e-cigarettes to 21.

It is also being considered in the Senate with Senate Bill 21.

No date will be set to put the law into effect until it has passed.
