Although all eyes are on Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber after the couple's surprise engagement earlier this month, there's still those wondering what really happened between the model and Shawn Mendes? Especially after the 21-year-old deleted every photo of Mendes from her Instagram feed.

In a recent interview with Australian TV show, The Project, the "In My Blood" singer opened up about his reaction to the engagement.

"I texted Hailey the day of and said 'Congrats,'" he said, before taking a shot at the general public's yearn for drama. "Everybody wants there to be more [of a feud] and there's not," he said simply about any sort of beef between him and Bieber.

Later in the interview, the 19-year-old addressed the now infamous Quebec fall.

You want to know the truth of what was going on?" he asked the host. "Dave Grohl was there. There's a video of Dave Grohl. He quotes something that I can't say on TV. He goes, 'Shawn Mendes is a bad motherf---er.' He says it in front of the entire crowd in Quebec and I was so excited that he was there. I was, like, 'I'm going to jump off stage.'"

Unfortunately, he miscalculated the jump. "You can see it in my face. The second that I jump, I'm, like, 'Oh no. This is a bad idea,'" he says.
