Stranger Things officially welcomed a Goonie and an Aliens star to its growing cast, ensuring that the delightfully nostalgic '80s vibes are strong with Season 2.

The second season of the smash hit Netflix series will star Sean Astin (The Goonies, Lord of the Rings), Paul Reiser (Aliens, Beverly Hills Cop) and newcomer Linnea Berthelsen.

Astin, who starred as Mikey in Steven Spielberg's iconic family adventure film The Goonies in 1985, as well as a hobbit named Samwise in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, will play a character named Bob Newby in Stranger Things' second season.

Bob is described as a former nerd who attended high school with Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour), and who is now the manager of a RadioShack in the fictional town of Hawkins.

Resier, who appeared in 1986's Aliens as Carter Burke, a corrupt corporate representative, will play a similarly slimy character named Dr. Owens, a Department of Energy employee who is tasked with covering up and containing the events surrounding Will Byer's disappearance into the Upside Down the previous year.

Meanwhile Berthelsen, a Danish actress, will play Roman, a mysterious new character described as an "emotionally damaged young woman" who shares a shocking connection to the events of Season 1, according to Variety.

Astin, Reiser and Berthelsen join fellow Season 2 newcomers Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery who will play new characters Max and Billy, respectively.
