The second Scream couldn’t help cashing in on its meta-madness by a movie-within-the-movie open, but will MTV’s Scream Season 2 follow suit? Maybe so, now that the teen slasher has released the full first seven minutes of Season 2, complete with more than a few stabbings.

MTV released the first seven minutes of the new season ahead of its May 30 premiere, which, you guessed it, couldn’t help psyching out fans with a bit of in-movie stabbing. Back in the real world, Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) very quickly finds herself in real danger, and all is again not what it seems.

So reads the full synopsis:

The second season picks up with Emma’s (Willa Fitzgerald) return to Lakewood after spending several months trying to recover at a retreat — though most wonder whether she truly has moved on. Meanwhile, Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) hides her connection to the Killer, but is getting harassed by someone who knows the truth. Brooke (Carlson Young) and Jake (Tom Maden) are also keeping their budding romance a secret from Mayor Maddox, while Noah (John Karna) grows closer to the truth about the season 1 murders.

Lakewood’s murderous past, both recent and distant, is brought into focus, with this Killer’s psychotic mind game intent on bringing the town’s heroes down in a storm of betrayal and bloodshed.

Season 1 co-showrunners Jill Blotevogal and Jamie Paglia have stepped down, replaced with collaborators Michael Gans and Richard Register, though Blotevogal will remain with Scream Season 2 as a creative consult.

In the meantime, learn all about the new cast members, and stay tuned for more on Scream’s May 30 return.
