The Real O'Neals Executive Producer Casey Johnson has cut down rumors that the show was in danger after star Noah Galvin criticized Hollywood's gay community and Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet, and called Colton Haynes' method of coming out "pussy bulls---."

In a June 9 interview with VultureGalvin slammed Haynes' Entertainment Weekly interview, in which Haynes confirmed he was gay but never actually said the words.

"That’s not coming out,” Galvin said. “That’s like, enough people assume that I sleep with men, so I’m just going to slightly confirm the fact that I’ve sucked a dick or two. That’s not doing anything for the little gays but giving them more masturbation material."

Galvin also commented on fellow ABC star Eric Stonestreet's portrayal of a gay man on Modern Family:

"...I think as wonderful of an actor as Eric Stonestreet is — I've never met him, I assume he's a wonderful guy — he's playing a caricature of a caricature of a stereotype of stereotype on Modern Family. And he's a straight man in real life. And as hilarious as that character is, there's a lack of authenticity."

Galvin later apologized, and tweeted "My only intention was to try and empower and promote honesty, but I fully understand that comments I made were brazen and hurtful." Still, some predicted the actor's words might have put the show in danger, gossip Johnson put to rest during a talk at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour yesterday (August 4).

Deadline confirmed in May The Real O'Neals was renewed for a second season.

"That part of that story is not true. There wasn't any threat to cut our order," Johnson said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "ABC has been incredibly supportive. There wasn't much going on behind the scenes. The article came out and Noah regretted what he said and apologized really quickly. I think we've all said things we wish we hadn't. It's all good, and we all got back to work. There wasn't that much buzzing behind the scenes."
