Proposition A was to allow a quarter of a cent rise in sales tax to help fund the hospital.

According to CBS 7, the results are unofficial but early results show the proposition has passed in Midland.

The campaign that supported the proposition explained that the proposition was set up to help the hospital fund the $30 million in federal tax cuts the hospital district is forecasted to be losing soon.

The money will be used to subsidize local clinics and maintain access to mental health.

If the proposition had not been passed, Midland county would have resorted to raising property taxes or just cutting back healthcare.
