President Donald Trump sent help to A$AP Rocky (Rakim Mayers) during his assault trial in the form of a hostage-crisis diplomat.

Mayers is on trial for allegedly assaulting 19-year-old Mustafa Jafari. The incident took place on June 30 while Mayers was in Stockholm to perform at a music festival along with his co-defendants Bladimir Emilio Corniel and David Tyrone Rispers. The defendants pleaded not guilty to the assault charges.

Robert C. O'Brien is President Trump's special envoy for hostage affairs and flew to Sweden for the trial on Tuesday (July 30).

“The president asked me to come here and support these American citizens,” O’Brien said in an interview with The New York Times. “I’ll be here until they come home.”

Mayers is set to testify Thursday (Aug. 1) when the trial resumes. Mayers' bodyguard, who was present for the alleged incident, was not charged and did not appear in court. Mayers' lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic, told press that he was "just doing his job."

Jafari alleged that he did not know who Mayers was and asked if he had seen his friends before the alleged altercation began.

Jafari's lawyer claimed that Jafari received injuries to his face, arms, and hands. He also claimed that the injury to his hand will leave scarring and required 13 stitches.

President Trump sent a tweet out in support of Mayers and even used the hashtag #FreeRocky.
