After the death of John Butler this past weekend in an old abandoned building downtown, a Midland resident started a petition to force owners of vacant buildings to either improve them or tear them down.

According to NewsWest 9, the Downtown Tunraround Petition has been started online by Midland resident Andrea De la Rosa.

She wants to make sure downtown buildings are either remodeled or torn down by their owners, some of which live out of state like the owner of the Western United Life Building which is owned by someone in California.

If you would like to see and sign the petition you can do so by clicking here.
