Odessa’s Unemployment Rate Was the Highest in the State for June

The downturn in the oil industry is probably the leading cause for the high unemployment rate in June.

According to NewsWest 9, Odessa's unemployment rate of 13% was the highest in the state as reported by the Texas Workforce Commission.

The downturn is making a turnaround so numbers for July should be a little better.

Midland had a 9.6% unemployment rate for June.
