Police Vehicle hit during a Major Crash in Odessa, Texas
A 19 year old was listed in critical condition after a car crashed into an Odessa Police Department marked vehicle. Odessa Fire Rescue and Odessa Police responded to a major cash involving three vehicles on January 3rd at Highway 80 and Faudree Road.
After an investigation it was revealed that a Buick Enclave, operated by a 23 year old man, was traveling West on Highway 80. A Chevrolet Equinox which was operated by a 55 year old woman was stopped facing south on Faudree Road, she was waiting to turn East onto Highway 80. At that time a Honda Civic operated by a 19 year old woman was traveling east on Highway 80 attempted to turn north onto Faudree.
The investigation went on to show that the driver of the Honda Civic failed to yield the right of way which caused the Buick Enclave operated by the 23 year old man, to crash into the Honda Civic. The impact caused the Buick Enclave to also crash into the Chevrolet Equinox and then he rolled into a ditch. All three drivers were transported to local hospitals. The 23 year old mand and 55 year old woman sustained non-life threatening injuries.
While OPD officers were investigating the 3-vehicle crash, a white Dodge Ram driven by a 45 year old man was traveling south on Faudree and attempted to turn east on Highway 80 He made an improper turn and crashed into a marked OPD police car unit that had its emergency flashing lights on. No reports of any injuries from this crash. The driver of the Dodge Ram was however, cited for Failure to Display Driver’s License and Improper Turn.
