Currently I-27 is just from Amarillo to Lubbock but the plan would be to extend it down through the Permian Basin.

According to NewsWest 9, MOTRAN will present the plan to the Ector County Commissioners today (May 26, 2020) to possibly extend I-27 through the Basin as a part of Texas House Bill 1079 which created the Ports-to-Plains Corridor.

The Ports-to-Plains Corridor is a series of highways to connect Alberta, Canada to Atlantic and Pacific ports in Mexico.

One of the segments of the plan contains the Permian Basin economic centers of Midland, Odessa, and Big Spring.

The study is scheduled to be submitted to the state on January 1, 2021.
