Pretty soon you will be able to buy alcohol at the movie theater in Midland.

According to NewsWest 9, Regal Tall City Stadium theater applied for a permit to the Midland Planning and Zoning Commission and that application was approved on Monday.

The company had applied once before back in 2016 and was turned down by Midland City Council after two readings.

Since that denial of a permit, Regal made several changes to the proposal to re-submit it and appease those who had denied the previous proposal.

The changes included the following:

  • The venue would end alcohol sales at 11 p.m. rather than the 2 a.m. cutoff in the previous proposal.
  • Customers would be held to a one drink limit.
  • If approved, the movie theater would also expand its menu items to offer more substantial food such as burgers and hot dogs.

Now that the Midland Planning and Zoning Commission has approved it, the proposal will go again to Midland City Council for two readings so it can be officially approved.
