Midland Police Officer Killed in the Line Of Duty to Have Highway Named in His Honor

One highway in Midland County will be named in honor of fallen officer Nathan Heidelberg.

According to NewsWest 9, FM 307 in east Midland County will soon be known as the "Nathan Heidelberg Memorial Highway."

Midland County Commissioners approved the resolution to designate the portion of FM 307 from Interstate 20 eastward to FM 1379 in Greenwood to be named in the late officer's honor.

The location was chose because it symbolizes the connection of Heidelberg's home and family to his dedication to law enforcement.

It will also connect his burial site in Greenwood to the Midland Fire Department firing range.

The project will be funded by private donations.
