The Pfizer vaccine is on its way and Midland Memorial Hospital will be distributing it.

According to NewsWest 9, the vaccines are expected to arrive the week of December 14, 2020 and the state of Texas is expected to get 1.4 million doses throughout the month of December.

The vaccine is still waiting on Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA which they are meeting about on December 10, 2020 to decide on whether to give it the Emergency Use Authorization.

Governor Greg Abbott has called for healthcare workers in Texas to be the first inoculated.

Midland Memorial Hospital says they will follow those guidelines with nursing home residents to be the next in line.

Hospital officials say that they will encourage healthcare staff to get the vaccine but they will not require them to get it to keep their job.

Once healthcare personnel and nursing home residents have been vaccinated then the hospital will work with CDC guidelines and state protocols to get the vaccine in the arm of citizens.

I plan on getting the vaccine as soon as I am able to because this past year has been hard on me and my family trying to keep from getting this virus.

The only way we can get back to a normal way of life is to receive this vaccine so I will be the first in line once they approve my age group or however they will decide who gets the vaccine and in what order.
