Friday Mayor Patrick Payton let the public know what will happen in phase two of Midland's reopening.

According to NewsWest 9, each business that was a part of phase one will be able to increase capacity from 25% to 50% beginning Monday, May 18, 2020.

Also on Monday gyms and office spaces will be allowed to reopen but they will only be able to start out at 25% capacity for this phase.

Also in phase two the mayor said Midland Parks and Recreation has been working to reopen the city's parks, along with playground areas, and those will be opening this Friday, May 22, 2020.

Mayor Payton also addressed pools saying that the city is sorting through job applicants and that if the city could not find enough employees to fully staff all pools they would do a rotation of pools over the summer.

In response to potential COVID-19 spikes, Mayor Payton said the city would use its best judgement to balance the economic and heath safety of Midland citizens.
